Muzzy Language Knowledge Base
Has anyone used the Muzzy language program? Has anyone used the Muzzy program to teach their kids another language? Would like to know if it is a good program and what you thought.... Website for the Muzzy program is www.muzzykids.com If you haven't....what would you suggest for a 5 & 7 year old to learn French?
The Muzzy language acquisition videos? Does anyone have experience with these? My sister is 6, is this too old for her to start watching these? She took an interest to them when we saw a commercial... The commercial mentioned that there was a deal where you could get 5 Muzzy videos: Italian, Spanish, French, English, and I think German... Are there any other languages offered? Maggie is Chinese... My mom is always thinking she should learn Chinese. I try to explain to my mom that just because Maggie was born in China, does not mean she needs to know the language, but my mom thinks she should. I don't know what good it would do her, as there's not a very high demand for Chinese speaking people in America, but I'm the sister, my mom's the mom, so she makes the rules. I looked for an official Muzzy website, but couldn't really find one. Pumpkinsmom: Brilliant. I will pick yours as best answer as soon as it lets me. :)

My daughter will be 3 this month, 3 1/2 when I move, and after I move I was thinking of getting her those "Muzzy" tapes that teach kids languages, and also I will be around a lot this woman who is directly from france, so her and her daughter speak it too... Is 3 1/2 already too old for a toddler to "absorb" another language, like to learn it just as easily as she's learning English right now?
Homeschoolers! Which language program do you recommend? I want to introduce a second language to my children, but i would like some input and reviews on your experiences with language programs. Im considering Muzzy or Rosetta just because they seem the most popular. Just in case it makes a difference, my kids are 10, 8, 5, and 2. Thanks a bunch!
has anyone tried "Muzzy"? since I live in France, I thought I'd get this Muzzy language program for my little cousin so he can understand French. He doesn't focus much unless he finds it entertaining. Do kids like it? Is it worth the price? Is it effective? Thanks.
what is the fastest way to learn a language and still remain free of charge? Im not doing any "muzzy" I have went through multiple programs and all of them become hard to keep up with since they don't explain verbs while teaching the words like for instance "cow" cannot be masculine and is always feminine and then another program says it can be and its toreau im very confused Reply soon to my question please.
Learning languages with MUZZY? Is anyone teaching their children languages using the MUZZY DVDs? We are thinking about using them with our little girl. Do you use the same DVDs up until they are 11/12? Or do you need to get new ones for different age groups?

Parents, have you ever tried the program Muzzy? You know, the program to teach your kids a foreign language? I have only heard french on there, so i'm not sure what langauge it is. Is it any good? Paying for the Muzzy doll? I'm going to buy the learning language for my son but he also wants the Muzzy doll, how much is the green doll...but I don't understand the 7 payments of 28$ for the Muzzy doll. Do the mean 28$ x 7? That's a bit expensive for a doll huh?
What are the best things to help you learn a language? I'm not looking at any language specifically (but most probably Spanish). For beginner/intermediate. I've heard of a computer program called 'Rosetta Stone' which is apparently really good. Also 'Muzzy - The BBC's language course for Children' is meant to be great. I'm 16 years old - so i can learn with adults and kiddies programs :))) Thank you very much in advance - remember 10 points for best answer!!! xxx Oh and i'd prefer it if it was a mixture of things, for example: DVDs, computer programs, audio tapes, Posters, Board games, etc etc :))
Muzzy vidieo for kids? Has any parents in here used the Muzzy Spanish or French DVD's for your kids? Did they work? I want to start teaching my 4 year old another language but can not afford a tudor.
Muzzy -Good or Bad? I am thinking about getting that "Muzzy" program for my son. The one that teaches young children a diffrent language. Does it actually work? it is not a cheap set up and I want some opinions on it before I invest in it. thank you
Has anyone taken language lessons as an adult? French.? I'm 40 years-old and contemplating taking French lessons! I've been listening to my daughter's dvds and cds (Muzzy, zozo, etc) and picked up quite a bit. . . but that's with children's-level learning (i.e catchy songs!!). I do love it! Have any of you "grown-ups" taken a language course and stuck with it . . . and had the language stick with you? Thanks for your input!
Moving to France with 3yr old? After school I will be moving to France for externship, with the option to move. My questions were, I have a 3yr old child. Would he pick up on French easily. Thought of getting him the Muzzy language program. How about preschool, would he feel left out, with everyone speaking french. How are black treated in France. I know there is prejudice there, but what about there. I dont want to confuse him, we have talked about France and French language. What should I do?
Learning another language? I've had the desireee to learn a foreign language since i was a little girl and saw "muzzy" :] But, I would like to know: how long does it take? i'm not gonna be like a lot of the people on here, and say.. I NEED TO KNOW NOW!!!! also, are there any internet resources i could use? I'm very interested in learing Spanish, since the population of hispanics in the U.S is growing, i just thought it be it'd come in handy :] If no spanish resourcess are available, i would like to learn danish, since i have relatives over in Denmark that i would like to speak their language with them. What free/cheap websites, books, or sofware should I use to learn German? I am German, but I don't speak the language, and I have not been to Germany. Are there any free/cheap websites, books, or software that can help me learn German? I've heard Rosetta Stone is great, but it is too expensive for me. Also the Muzzy program is just dumb. Any advice would be good.
Teaching my toddler a foreign language? My son is 2.5 years old. He is very smart and ahead with colors, numbers, letters, etc. I think he will do very well learning a foreign language. I decided to go with Spanish as it is so widely used and easier than Mandarin. When I was a teenager I was a nanny and remember using the Muzzy Program with the children. We did not follow through so did not have much results. I do not speak Spanish and am wondering if this will affect him learning this. Also should I go with the Muzzy program or is there a more effective program out there? What are some tips to use with whatever program to help him learn a language? With me not knowing the language and using a program with him how fluent can he become with the language? Thanks! Any help is appreciated. In response to a rude comment... I am not saying my child is "advanced" I said he is ahead. I am a teacher and have a degree in early childhood development so I believe I am qualified to comment on my own child's development. As far as him learning a foreign language at this time, toddler and preschool is when there brain is developing and absorbing at the highest level.... I want my son to be exposed to as much stimulation as possible as he enjoys it, it keeps him busy while learning and it gives us activities to do together. As far as a foreign language it will help him in the future of school and work and bringing others cultures into all of our lives is something that I believe is beneficial. So all in all I don't need some bored morn to judge me or my comments. Have a nice day. In response to a rude comment... I am not saying my child is "advanced" I said he is ahead. Language Help?? What are some ways to learn other languages (besides English)? (I already have a translator). I saw this thing on TV called Muzzy, it's looks like cartoons that you watch, I'm 15 so I don't know if it would only work on younger kids. Would Muzzy work? Thank you!! The languages that I want to learn are Spanish, French, and Italian.
Does anyone else remember Muzzy? The remarkable video language program for children? I'm referring to that commercial, by the way. Sorry, I should've been more specific!

How can I teach my daughter a second language? I was born in Costa Rica and so were my parents. When I was 2 wks. old we moved to the U.S. My bio-mom died, but my Dad made sure I kept up my heritage and spoke two langauges: English was my 1st, but Spanish was my 2nd. He tought me from the time I was 3 till Middle School. By then I knew a lot. I want my 3 1/2 year old to do the same. She also wants to learn about her heritage and her Dad(my ex) is Colombian so she has a lot of Spanish roots in her. We watch Dora and Go Diego Go and some of those othere Spanish speaking cartoons. But I want her to learn more. I heard about Muzzy. Do you think she's too young? She already knows some Spanish and will even talk to me in one sentence"Como te llamas?" which means What Is Your Name and is the only phrase she can say. So should I go with Muzzy? Any other video or book ideas for toddlers! Thanks a ton! She knows most of the basics from Dora and Diego.
Children's Language Learning on TV? Hello all, my hubby is thinking of accepting a job in Germany, and as such we're both learning German at the moment. Our children are both under 10 and we're desperately looking for some kind of children's TV show or similar that we can buy to help teach them German too. Does anyone know if any exist? The nearest I can find is Muzzy, but they seem to be CD-Roms and not TV. Thanks in advance! x Hi Michelle, yes we bought Rosetta Stone for ourselves, but my youngest is 5 and my oldest in 7 and neither of them will sit still to use it. I'd rather they had a kind of Sesame Street style thing they could watch that would teach them while they enjoy the program. I'll take another look at Muzzy, thanks for the reply - As it's a life changing thing I don't mind paying a hundred-odd quid for it. But naturally I'd rather not! :-) (Yes, we will be immersing them as much as possible, and are already doing that especially at mealtimes we try to talk only German!)
I want my son and i to learn japanese together but? I checked the Muzzy website and they don't offer japanese :( Do you know of any other programs that teach very young children other languages? in the Muzzy program they can start when they're toddlers,i'd like to start that early with my son (he's not actually born yet,im 23 weeks pregnant so i'm a bit ahead of the game, lol). know of any programs? thanks soooo much! ^-^
Has anyone Tried the "My Baby Can read" system? I saw an info-mercial about it last night. It is claiming it teaches babies and toddlers to read (similar to the Muzzy one that teaches them a 2nd or 3rd language). I think it looks cool, but it is expsensive..... $14.95 for a 30 day trail $199 for the whole purchase paid in full w/o the trail Check it out: www.yourbabycanread.com
French children's shows? I want to get a lot of preschool children's television shows\movies for my daughter; possibly replace her English video collection entirely. She learned to speak English by watching the telly (Dora mostly, Blues Clues, etc) and I wanna see if it will work for a second language. I have the Muzzy, but it only goes so far. Plus, I have them on tapes & I don't have a tape player. What are some French shows for like 2 to 6 year olds? I was thinking maybe I could look on Ebay. And please no grief about relying on the telly to teach her. I've studied French for six years & I still suck at it. This is the only chance my daughter may have to learn this language.
Why can't muslims get along with people from other religion? http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/asia-pacific/8090580.stm look in the above new story from Australia today, these muslims are now attacking Indians who are the most peacefull of people.Fisrt these lebanese muzzy's started fights with white aussie's in sydney on Bondi beach a few years ago, So it looks like no matter which country these muslims live they just can't accept other cultures and religions, In the u.k we had riots caused by mostly pukeistani muzzys up in Burnley, Bradford, Blackburn,Bolton, etc a few years ago, so What do Brits think of these people? Please use any kind of words and language you want to describe your feeling towards them! Thanks ohh i forgot about the muzzy attacks on Mumbia last year in my country.
help! is there anyway i can ... ? im 15 , freshman i want to go to france for my sophomore year in highschool to study abroad from august-june. my mom said its a great idea but the one thing im worried about is that it says you have to have 2 years of french language study. is there any thing i can do to get the equivalent? do you think i'll be turned away just because i dont have the equivalent ? i have 6 months and i plan on talking to the french teacher and seeing if she can teach me until the deadline , which would mean i would be able to check 6-12 months. lets say when i was like 6 i did a year of muzzy or something do you think i could count that ? the only way they validate it [ when they do ] is by a test . i really want to go my sophomore year. any ideas? this is the link http://www.intraxstudyabroad.com/france/academic-year-semester
