Muzzy Spanish

Homeschoolers! Which language program do you recommend?

I want to introduce a second language to my children, but i would like some input and reviews on your experiences with language programs. Im considering Muzzy or Rosetta just because they seem the most popular. Just in case it makes a difference, my kids are 10, 8, 5, and 2. Thanks a bunch!

  1. Considering the age of your children, I would probably choose Muzzy. I vaguely remember Muzzy from about 3rd grade, and I was far more interested than I would have been in Rosetta at that age. When they're older and at the point where you'd really like them serious about a second language, Rosetta is an excellent program. I'm 17 and started Rosetta a few months ago, and I would definitely recommend it. Good luck!
  2. I have done Rosetta Stone, and I highly recommend it! It is perfect for all ages, and it is fun to do each day. I've never done Muzzy......but I'm sure that you will be fine either way! Good luck!
  3. If you can, find someone who speaks the language to spend time with your kids. I'm very wary of language-learning programs that don't involve interaction with real humans, especially for very young children (who could pick up on a language very quickly with real, regular human interaction in that language). If kids could really learn a language well from computers and TV programs, we could plop infants in front of the tv and expect them to learn language...but it actually doesn't work like that. If you can't find anyone who speaks the language near you, then I suppose Muzzy or Rosetta stone would be better than nothing, but do put some good effort into finding fluent speakers to help your kids.
