Muzzy Spanish

What is the easiest way to learn spanish?

My boyfriend is Mexican and I'd like to be able to talk to him in Spanish. :) He has taught me a handful of Spanish, but I'd like to be able to have actual conversations with him in Spanish. Any suggestions on what the easiest way to learn Spanish is? Oh! and how long do you think it will take to learn? Thank you!

  1. There is no EASY way, but check out some books in the library, && Muzzy, lol http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AgOngFjRrrSOfUhS.pLzl7bsy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090821222446AA61WPO
  2. Rosetta stone. It actually works.... ^^ ?Como te llamas? Me llamo Nicholas ?Como Estas? Muy bien, Gracios. De Nada..
  3. tell him to teach you
  4. Rosetta Stone is expensive, but they have 6 month trials which are less pricey. There are different levels of speaking so if you want to have a base you could learn quickly.
  5. Go and live in Spain.
  6. Live in Spain
  7. There is no easy way. However, start with an introductory class at the high school or junior college level. First understand that the vowels in words are pronounced differently in spanish than english while you can get away with pronouncing consonants the same. Then, remember to start all questions with words such as who, what, why, where, when....in spanish (quien, que, por que, donde, cuando). Next, start all answers with verbs (ex: soy, voy, tengo, etc.) When you take a class, they should teach you to conjugate verbs such as in english. ( ex: I am, you are he/she is= yo soy, tu eres el/ella es...etc,) Finally, while taking the class remember that the best way to learn spanish question and sentence structure is to use your knowledge of english sentence structure to understand that words need to be in proper order. After that, take more classes, watch spanish tv, listen to people talk in spanish, ready easy books , etc.. It is just like learning english. You need to master listening, speaking, reading, and writing. It is a process that will take a while but it can be done.
  8. Anything worth doing is worth doing well. It may not be easy and it won't be quick, but learning Spanish is worth doing. Have you met his mother? If his mother likes you, she will probably have more time and patience to teach you than your boyfriend will. Also, sign up for a class, and get him to take you to movies in Spanish.
  9. ¡Hola hola :)! Honestly I think the BEST way to learn Spanish[or any language for that matter lol], is to be exposed to that culture, whether it be going to a country where people speak that language or just being around people of that culture frequently. BUT since going to Mexico these days isn't exactly cheap, there are a lot other ways you can learn :)! These two websites are both VERY helpful. And although you have to sign up for LiveMocha, all you have to do is put in your e-mail etc., you don't pay for it lol. Both websites are FREE: My personal favorite website is Livemocha.com. There you can help native Spanish speakers with their English and vice versa. You can also do recordings, where you have a reading in front of you and if you have a microphone you can record it and post it on the website and native/fluent speakers will correct you and encourage you. So I REALLY like this website and have used it for a few of the languages I've learned lol. Another good website is http://www.bbc.co.uk/languages/spanish/. My favorite part is they have a certain program called Mi Vida Loca[My Crazy Life] where you interact with the characters and learn Spanish while taking a crazy trip through Spain. I LOVE Mi Vida Loca. A lot of fun XD. Lol, and you can also take a language test, which gauges where you are in Spanish whether it be complete beginner to advanced. For books, I really like http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Spanish-For-Dummies/Susana-Wald/e/9780764551949/?itm=1&usri=1 which is "Spanish For Dummies"(lol take no offense to the name of the book XD]. They clear up a lot of common problems beginners have with Spanish, and this book EVEN helped my 10 year old cousin[who might as well be classified as ADD, she's ALWAYS on a different thing every two seconds lol] to pick up quite a lot of Spanish. I was so surprised and had to read through it myself. It's very simple with explainations and has lots of practice. And also, you should try and get your boyfriend to say things to you in Spanish more. Like, instead of saying the freezer, he could say "el congelador". And have some basic conversation(like how are you, what are you doing today, etc. lol) too. You'd be SO surprised at how much it really helps I can't really say how long it will take you to learn hun. It could be anywhere from 2 months to 6 years depending on how quick of a learner you are, how dedicated you are to learning, how much Spanish you're exposed to, and if you speak other languages. But if I just guessed, I would say maybe around a year or so, IF you are constantly studying. Not like once every month, but more like every single day for an hour or two. ¡Buena suerte con tu español :)!(Good luck with your Spanish :)!)

  11. you already have the very best resource right next to you!, your boyfriend. ask him to practice Spanish with you. furthermore i suggest: - Spanish music with lyrics (ask boyfriend for translations) - free Spanish courses online - spanish movies with english subtitles and other way around - maybe 1 or 2 full home study courses. regarding time... really depends on the person. You are in luck having a Spanish speaking boyfriend which can certainly speed up things all the best
  12. I don't have an answer, actually I searched for this, I'm in the same exact situation and it's soooo hard to learn it! Keep trying and I'll check back to get more suggestions myself. Thx for asking!!
